Our Story
For nearly 40 years, Salford Loaves and Fishes has been providing food, support and hope to people facing hardship across Salford. We offer a safe, welcoming space where anyone can access practical help, build confidence and take positive steps forward.
Supporting People Across Salford Since 1987
Our roots can be traced back to the Salford Cathedral Drop-in Centre, where nuns provided soup and sandwiches to people experiencing homelessness and hardship. When that service closed, Salford Loaves and Fishes was established as a registered charity on 30 November 2006 to continue supporting vulnerable people throughout Salford.
Over the years, the charity has evolved to meet the changing needs of the community. From providing immediate practical support to delivering education, training and employability opportunities, our aim has always remained the same: to ensure that nobody faces hardship alone.
Today, we operate from our centre on Paddington Close, where people can access a broad range of services designed to address both immediate needs and longer-term goals. Through collaboration with specialist partner organisations, we are able to offer joined-up support that makes a lasting difference to people's lives.
